Indian forward Rani Rampal was named captain of a 20-woman squad set to tour Korea next month which will also see fit-again forward Poonam Rani make her long-awaited return from injury. The Indian women’s team are set to play five matches against the hosts at the Jinchun National Athletic Centre.

The Indian women's hockey team broke into the top-10 of the rankings after winning the Asia Cup, which secured their qualification for the 2018 World Cup. The Argentina men and the Netherlands women's team retained their No. 1 position while the Belgium men's team moved up to No. 3 in the rankings.

Indian women kicked off their Asia Cup campaign in magnificent fashion as they thrashed Singapore 10-0 in Kakamigahara on Saturday during the opening match of Pool A. India face China next, on Sunday, in the continental tournament, which also serves as a qualifier for 2018 Hockey World Cup.
