To increase India's chances of winning a medal at the Asian Games, the National Rifle Association of India has asked the Sports Ministry to add the three shotgun shooters to the Asian Games delegation; skeet marksman Angad Vir Singh Bajwa and women's trap shooters Manisha Keer and Preeti Rajak.

Rajeshwari Kumari, a fast-rising trap shooter from India, finished fifth in the ISSF World Championships on Thursday and secured an Olympics quota for the nation. The 31-year-old made it to the finals in a very competitive field, but unlucky circumstances prevented her from winning a medal.

The Indian shooters had a horrendous start to the ISSF World Championship as none of them managed to win a medal or secure a quota for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Nonetheless, the men's 10m air pistol team won an inconsequential bronze medal.

At the FISU World University Games on Monday, India won two gold medals in the men's 10m air rifle singles and team events, respectively. In the 10m air rifle men's team competition, shooters Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Divyansh Singh Panwar, and Arjun Babuta combined to defeat China.
