Bangladesh cricketer Shakib Al Hasan has been suspected of an illegal bowling action in his only County Championship match for Surrey this year. The match officials reported his action after Surrey’s encounter against Somerset and asked the all-rounder to undergo examination in the coming weeks.

Shakib, who featured in his only County Championship appearance in almost 14 years, was summoned to fill the void for eight Surrey players on national duty. He ended up with nine wickets in 63 overs in their 111-run victory, helping the side march towards their third title. Although there wasn’t any no-ball signalled due to throwing, umpires Steve O'Shaughnessy and David Millns suspected the Bangladeshi veteran’s bowling action.

As per ESPNcricinfo, it is learned that Shakib will be asked to undergo an examination in the next couple of weeks at a different location. Although it won’t affect his international, domestic, and franchise cricket in other nations, the examination is important for Shakib to be able to return to England's domestic setup any time in the future.

Shakib has been going through a torrid time in his personal life of late. What was expected to be his farewell Test at home against South Africa took an upside turn after the citizens protested against his homecoming due to political turbulence in the country. Henceforth, he has been sidelined from the upcoming three-match ODI series against Afghanistan.
