The Indian men’s hockey team has recently jumped up one place to the fifth position in the latest men’s hockey world rankings issued by International Hockey Federation (FIH). India has achieved this by virtue of its second consecutive runner-up finish at the Champions Trophy in Breda, Netherlands.

PR Sreejesh has stated that the Indian hockey team was always confident of beating Australia in the final and the players played with that attitude. He also stated that players took the game to the next level in Breda showing encouraging signs ahead of the Asian Games and the World Cup at home.

India hockey team captain PR Sreejesh revealed that the upcoming Champions Trophy would serve as a reality check ahead of this year’s anticipated World Cup. Sreejesh played down the game against Pakistan and said that all the matches are of equal importance across the course of the tournament.

After a grilling three-week national camp, which included 55 players, Hockey India has announced a list of 48 players for a 21-day national camp ahead of the FIH men’s Champions Trophy in Breda, Netherlands. The camp will resume on May 28 at the Sports Authority of India facility in Bengaluru.
