With the bids, Gujarat and Lucknow were finalized as the two teams, and Gujarat got the second-highest bid by the CVC Capitals Partners. They made a bid of 5625 crores crore (over 692 million USD). The influx of Indian talent in the IPL has been setting the domestic game on fire for years now. Hardik Pandya was given the captaincy duties and Rashid Khan was selected as the Vice Captain of the team. Furthermore, in the auction, they managed to acquire some more players like Rahul Tewatia, David Miller, and Matthew Wade who strengthened their top order and the middle order. The franchise got off to a great start after signing up some top players who were all bought at an astonishing bargain price. The team also got good batting depth with Vijay Shankar in the side. They have their bases covered well by having a strong bowling attack. With Mohammed Shami and Lockie Ferguson to spearhead the pace attack, they also had a good support staff with spinner like Rashid Khan. In the league stage, the team managed to win 10 matches out of the 14 that they played and hence finished at the top of the points table which helped them to finish in the first two spots in the points table. In the Playoffs, the team won Qualifier 1 against Rajasthan Royals comprehensively and then also managed to beat them in the Finals too. With Hardik Pandya as the captain, the team won their first trophy, and hence it became the most successful season for them.
