WATCH, ADT10 | Quirky Pollard shocks everyone with unusual stance by standing behind the crease
Quite often we bring out innovation to adapt to a certain kind of situation. Former West Indies captain Kieron Pollard, known for his history of quirky acts on the field added yet another bizarre moment centering him after standing outside the crease to counter Odean Smith in the Abu Dhabi T10.
In the 24th match of the ongoing Abu Dhabi T10 season, UP Nawabs decision to field first paid dividends after their pacers put the New York Strikers in trouble. With half a dozen wickets gone by the eighth over, Pollard was left stranded with the tail facing a tough challenge against Odean Smith. Having exposed the big-hitter's weakness, Pollard was forced to bring up innovative measures that left the audience glaring.
Following a wide delivery at the start of the ninth over, Odean bowled consecutive full and widish deliveries against his former national captain. Although Pollard got one towards long off, he hesitated to expose the tail by denying a run. Subsequently, the all-rounder failed to make a connection in the next couple of deliveries with the third ball being denied wide from the umpire leaving Pollard unpleased. Eventually, on the fifth ball of the over, the power-hitter shuffled across the line and went so deep inside the crease that he was seen targeting a heave off a back of a length stuff from outside the mark. Although he missed on getting a bat to it, Pollard’s inventive measures kept the Twitterverse buzzing.
Big Innovative Polly!
