For a team that is plagued by injuries to top players, the bad form of just about everyone, and just two wins in two seasons, to be able to gather themselves on the mat is just about impossible. But Telugu Titans somehow managed to achieve the improbable on Saturday, with a win over U Mumba.

Out of the 12 games that have been played so far in the edition, the side from the south has only won one match. The Telugu Titans' deplorable streak also carries over to PKL Season 9; none of the players in the team have displayed any form, while injuries to key players have been disappointing.

On Saturday, Pawan Sehrawat of the Tamil Thalaivas suffered a freak injury in the match against Gujarat Giants and had to be stretchered out of the mat. Even though injuries are part of the sport, no one would have expected another major injury to happen to a player in a span of a day.

On paper, Telugu Titans are among the finest teams, with a good balance of experience and young players. Due to a variety of factors, the previous two seasons weren't spectacular but Titans will now attempt to do better this time when they play Bengaluru Bulls in the first game of PKL season 9.
