PKL 2019 | Will try and win all our remaining matches, says Gholamreza Mazandarani
Telugu Titans coach Gholamreza Mazandarani has said that his team will try to win all their remaining games from here on and then see what happens on the league table. After the tie against Patna Pirates on Friday, Telugu’s assistant coach Jagdish Kumble praised young Rajnish’s performance.
After their game ended on 42-42 against Patna Pirates, Telugu Titans are still in a poor position as far as the points table is concerned. The Titans are now at the 11th place with 33 points from 16 games. Coach Gholamreza Mazandarani, however, wants his boys to win all their remaining matches in the league stage and then look forward to the permutations and combinations to make it to the top six on the table at the end of the league stage.
“We played well but made a few errors in defence. When you give away four points, three points and then two points a few times in a game, it’s extremely difficult to win. We should have won the match,” Mazandarani said while addressing the media after the match.
“We have to take it game-by-game. We have improved substantially over the course of the season, so we will try and win all our remaining matches and see what happens.”
In the game against the Pirates, Rajnish emerged as a surprise package and helped the Titans big time with a super 10. He supported Siddharth Desai really well and according to the assistant coach Jagdish Kumble, Rajnish improved his game a lot in the last evening.
“We knew they would prepare for Siddharth Desai. So Rajnish could prove to be a game-changer. And while he has done well in the opportunities he has gotten this season, he really upped his game today and delivered a quality performance,” Kumble said.
Talking about the game and their performance especially in the second half, Kumble said that there were a lot of mistakes committed by the Telugu defenders hampered them and they failed to register the win against Pardeep Narwal and co.
“We made too many errors in defence in the second half and a raider like Pardeep Narwal doesn’t need a second invitation to exploit any weakness that a team shows. We ended up giving two points to Jang Kun Lee as well when we could have played it safe or tackled him and taken control of the game,” the assistant coach signed off.
