PKL 2019 | Last three minutes did not go as planned, says Ram Mehar Singh
After their loss against Bengaluru Bulls, Patna Pirates coach, Ram Mehar Singh, said that the mistakes his players made the in the last three minutes cost them the game. Patna Pirates is currently at the bottom of the points table with nine losses in 12 matches they have played so far.
Patna Pirates looked in good form throughout the match except in the last few minutes. Their defence started well as they Super Tackled Rohit Kumar and even Pawan Sehratwat more than once in the game which helped them eventually inflict an all-out 12 minutes into the game. Pardeep Narwal also executed a four point Super Raid to keep his side well ahead.
“It was a good game. We could have won. We made some critical mistakes that ended up costing us the match. We were in control. The defence played well. The last three minutes did not go as planned and that ended up being the difference,” coach Ram Meher Singh said in the post-match press conference.
Pardeep Narwal scored a Super Ten in the match and became the first person to record 50 Super Tens in PKL history. He was well supported in raiding by Mohammed Esmaeil who scored 6 points. Their defense started off well but as the game progressed, they got restless and gave away crucial points. It was a Pawan raid in the last minutes of the game where the momentum swung in the home side's favour. Jaideep dived in and Neeraj offered some support but Pawan was able to get back across the line which handed Bengaluru the advantage that they would carry till the end of the game.
“That two-point raid at the end which tied the scores. That is where the game turned in their favour," Pradeep Narwal explained.
