PKL 2019 | Will definitely change our strategy, states Jasveer Singh
After losing the first two games by huge margins, UP coach Jasveer Singh has said that they will definitely change their strategy and also added that this is an early phase of the tournament. He has also added that the Gujarat defence played well and that transformed the pressure on the UP side.
UP Yoddha were off to a terrible start in the tournament as they lost 17-48 to Bengal Warriors in the first game. Their second was no different as well as the Jasveer Singh-coached side were hammered by the runners-up team from last edition Gujarat Fortunegiants by a huge margin of 19-44. The two results have propelled the UP coach to say that the team will “definitely” change their strategies.
“At the start our defence played pretty well but their defence was also pretty strong, so we were finding it difficult to score points while raiding. That resulted in the pressure being transferred on our defence.
“We will change our strategy. It’s still early stages in the league so there isn’t that much pressure. But we will definitely change our strategy plus one of our main stars, Rishank Devadiga, will also be joining the team. When our raiders start performing our defenders will also start playing well,” Jasveer said during the post-match press conference.
The UP raiding unit comprises of raiders like Rishank Devadiga, Shrikant Jadhav and Monu Goyat. With Devadiga missing out on the first two games and Goyat and Jadhav not doing well, the team has struggled a lot in the department in the league so far. The coach hoped that the team will do well in the coming games of the tournament.
“I’m sure they will play well soon. They should be playing a bit quicker but I’m sure they will play well in the future,” the UP coach explained.
