PKL 2019 | Hope to continue scoring so defenders can play without any pressure, says Rohit Kumar
Bengaluru Bulls skipper Rohit Kumar expects the raiders of his team to continue performing well so that their defenders can be free of pressure and continue the winning momentum. Rohit scored eight points in last night’s game as Bengaluru Bulls won against Telugu Titans 26-47.
Bengaluru Bulls showcased an all-round performance in last night’s match as they won by 21 points against Telugu Titans. Bengaluru outplayed the Titans in every department. In the raiding unit, Pawan Sehrawat was phenomenal as ever as he scored 13 raid points and he was well supported by skipper Rohit Kumar who scored seven raid points. Rohit, in previous matches, was not up to the mark but in this match, he looked comfortable and managed to get some crucial points as well.
With Rohit coming back to form Bengaluru Bulls look like a more balanced side. Also Pawan Sehrawat performing in defence is a welcome change and him scoring four tackle points was crucial for the Bulls as well. Mahender Singh also performed well by scoring seven tackle points including two Super Tackles that is one of the reasons why Telugu lost by a big margin. All in all Bengaluru Bulls look in great form and is looking forward to retaining their title.
“As the coach said, the other raiders have to contribute too. It is not fair to put the entire burden of raiding on Pawan. It is a contact sport which means that if Pawan gets injured it will cause a big concern for the entire team. The plan was that we will split the raiding and if we both score it will be difficult to defeat the team. Our defence was spectacular today as well.
"The coach had said before the match that no matter who the raider is if someone is going in for a tackle then everyone has to support him. That is how to team played. Going forward, I hope we both keep scoring so that it relieves the pressure from the defenders and they can perform in the same way,” Rohit Kumar said in the post-match press conference.
