N’Golo Kante is not injured but he was worried he would get injured, reveals Thomas Tuchel
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that N’Golo Kante was not injured but believed he had tweaked his hamstrings which is why the early change was made. The midfielder is considered to be one of the best in the world but has missed a month of action this season through various injuries.
With Chelsea facing Leicester City, as the push for a place in the top four becomes tougher, it saw the Blues field their best possible team and that has always included N’Golo Kante. The Frenchman has been a key part for the Blues’ ever since he signed for them and that has been the case under every manager the club has ever had. However, with Tuchel forced to sub Kante off just after the half hour mark, it had many Chelsea fans worried especially with the Champions League final around the corner.
The Stamford Bridge side face Manchester City and Pep Guardiola on the 28th of this month and it could make things even harder if they’re forced to play it without Kante. But Tuchel confirmed that while the French midfielder wasn’t injured, he was worried that he would have had he continued to play. The German coach also added that Kante felt he tweaked his hamstrings and didn’t want to take a chance.
“N'Golo is not injured. He told me – and I understood him right in French – he went out before an injury. He felt his hamstrings and was worried that he would get injured if he continued to play," Tuchel said, reported the Athletic.
