Pep Guardiola has admitted that winning the league title is not Manchester City’s main goal but they will fight till the very end. The Cityzens have had a mixed start to their Premier League and sit in third place behind Leicester City and Liverpool with nine points separating them and the Reds.

After yet another hectic Premier League weekend, Manchester City sit nine points Liverpool with the race for the league title already heating up. The Reds have had a sensational start to their season and have already managed to accumulate as many points as Arsenal and Manchester United have. That has caused a few problems for the Cityzens with injury problems not helping their cause as well.

However, while Pep Guardiola is eyeing a third successive Premier League crown with Manchester City, the Spaniard went on to admit that it’s not his main goal this season as the club have other targets to aim at. He further added that the club will give Liverpool an incredible fight till the very end but if they don’t win, then it isn’t the end of the world.

"I think it's not a good message for society, for our kids, for our teenagers, showing them that just the winner is perfect. We are creating a depressed people, loser people. It is not. Important is the effort, the commitment, the situation," Guardiola said reported the ESPN.

“In football I know we want to win but just win once and the other is disaster? It's not, it doesn't work in that way. That's why I said to the players relax, do your job, we will see in December, January, February, March and we will see what position we are in. If the position is far away, OK it's far away. We are going to try again next season."

However, both fans and critics believe that Manchester City are in crisis with even Guardiola linked with a move to Bayern Munich. While the Spaniard did quash those rumours earlier this month, he went on to admit that the club is not in crisis. Instead, Guardiola went on to reveal that he wants his players to show desire and fight for every single point available.

"If we lose, we lose. But I promise you, when I see my team don't fight with no spirit or lack of intensity and desire, I'll say I don't like my team, I don't like the way they play. In these three years and half, people can say we play good or bad but give up? That is not going to happen. My teams, always we try but I accept that the others can better," he added.
