Reports | Borussia Dortmund join the race for Mauricio Pochettino

Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund have thrown their hat in the ring for Mauricio Pochettino when the Argentine decides to return to the game. The former Espanyol boss was sacked by Tottenham midway through this season and has since been linked with a move to Arsenal, Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

Despite Lucien Favre’s success with the club, Borussia Dortmund are looking for someone who can give them something more to challenge Bayern Munich. The Bavarians have ruled over Germany with an iron fist over the last decade or so and that has caused a few problems for everyone around them. But while Favre and co took Dortmund the closest they’ve ever been since Jurgen Klopp left to a Bundesliga title, this season has seen him come under immense scrutiny.

The German giants have struggled to put their best foot forward this season and that combined with a few issues within has seen the club hierarchy consider replacing Favre. Reports indicate that the board is actively looking for someone with the Telegraph reporting that Mauricio Pochettino is leading their list of potential replacements for Lucien Favre.

The former Southampton boss worked wonders with a small budget at Tottenham with the help of shrewd deals and youngsters, which is exactly what Dortmund are looking for. That combined with Champions League football and the squad that Borussia Dortmund have, has seen the club believe they can land the Argentine. The report further added that Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Arsenal are all considering a move with all four sides looking for a new manager.
