Harbhajan was the funniest character in the dressing room, says Gary Kirsten
Former Indian coach Gary Kirsten has praised off-spinner Harbhajan Singh's jovial nature which contributed to the "fantastic environment" in the Indian dressing room during his tenure. The World Cup-winning coach also said that he enjoys watching Virat Kohli finishing matches off in style.
While the whole country celebrated their players with endless tributes when India won the ODI World Cup in 2011, one man stood smiling behind the curtain, as his players enjoyed the limelight. With his excellent skills in player management, Gary Kirsten had taken Indian cricket to the next level with the World Cup win in 2011 and went on to coach South Africa till 2013. Now the South African has returned to India as a coach at the Rajasthan Cricket Academy.
Speaking about the “fantastic” dressing room atmosphere which played a huge factor in India's World Cup win, Kirsten said that Harbhajan Singh was one of the funniest in the team.
"We had great characters too. Bhajji (Harbhajan Singh) was the funniest," he told NDTVsports in an exclusive interview.
Kirsten also had praise for his former protege and India's talisman Virat Kohli saying his ability to finish matches is a joy to watch.
“Enjoy watching Virat. Love the way he takes control and finish games," Kirsten said.
