Sania Mirza and Barbora Strycova have booked their place in the semifinal of the Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo on Friday after beating Miyu Kato and Yifan Xu in straight sets 6-2, 6-2. The Indo-Czech duo have bounced back emphatically after their disappointing quarter-final exit in the US Open.

Mirza and Strycova, the No.2 seeds, broke their opponent's serve twice in the first set to win it 6-2. The Indo-Czech duo produced some impressive service games and managed to get 90% of their first serves in. In the second set, that percentage rose to 100, and though they were broken once in the set, Mirza and Strycova managed to break Kato and Xu's service games thrice to win the set 6-2.

After such a comfortable win, Mirza and her new partner Strycova will face the unseeded pair of Gabriela Dabrowski and Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez in their semi-final match. The duo have played three tournaments together so far after Sania broke up with Martina Hingis, and they will be looking for their second title win after lifting the Cincinnati Open last month.
