After Baseline announced the dates for the second season of the Pro Volleyball, VFI secretary Ramavtar Jakhar has said that the league is doubtful as there are a lot of events scheduled in February-March, 2020. Baseline had earlier announced that the tournament will be bigger than the first season.

According to a report published on Sportstar, there are still doubts about the organisation of the Pro Volleyball League in 2020. In an interview with the media house, secretary of the Volleyball Federation of India (VFI) Ramavtar Jakhar has informed that there are many events that will take place in February-March. The secretary mentioned the “entire Volleyball Federation of India was taken by surprise” as baseline announced the tournament dates.

Earlier this month, Baseline had announced that the tournament is scheduled to begin on February 7 and the final will be played on March 1. Meanwhile, the VFI has planned the national tournaments - National junior championships followed by Federation Cup and the Youth (u-21) Nationals during that period next year.

“With a host of events, the PVL looks doubtful. But everything will be decided at the VFI’s Annual General Body Meeting which will be held in November. Yes, I made the announcement that PVL will be held in February during the Federation Cup in Amritsar [early this month]. But that was my own opinion,” Jhakar told Sportstar.

The VFI secretary, however, has also assured that the PVL will take place in 2020 “with or without Baseline Ventures.” On the other hand, CEO of the league Joy Bhattacharjya has made it clear that the organisers are committed towards the league and they had asked the Federation for the dates since March this year.

“We are committed to doing the league, have fulfilled all our financial and other commitments. And we have been asking for dates for the second edition since March 11. This year, if the VFI Secretary has any issues he needs to put them down officially. If we do not get the dates in the next few days, the next season is in danger,” informed Bhattacharjya.
