The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) has decided to terminate the contracts of all the existing coaches, as per a report in the Times of India. As many as 24 coaches, senior and junior, were informed about the decision through email, following the review by the federation.

Indian shooting coach Jaspal Rana has made it clear that he doesn’t want to prepare himself for the 2024 Paris Olympics; rather he wants to serve the junior squad and develop fresh talents for the future. India won as many as 43 medals in the recently concluded 2021 ISSF Junior World Championships.

India’s core group of 32 shooters are scheduled to start their training for the Tokyo Olympics next year on August 1 at the Karni Singh Shooting Range in Delhi. But, many of the shooters are not sure whether they can attend the camp with the COVID-19 pandemic causing more problems day by day.
