ISSF World Cup | Rahi Sarnobat bags gold in 25m pistol event; books Olympic quota
Indian shooter Rahi Sarnobat has won a gold medal in the women’s 25m pistol event at the ongoing International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup in Munich on Monday. With this gold, she has also sealed a Tokyo Olympic quota place in the category during the third World Cup of the season.
Indian pistol shooters had a great day at the office on Monday as after Saurabh Chaudhary’s gold medal-winning effort in the 10m event, Rahi Sarnobat brought glory for the nation and bagged a gold in the women’s 25m event in Munich Shooting World Cup. With a total score of 37 from 50 shots, the Indian managed to end at the topmost spot on the points table on Monday.
Meanwhile, the other Indian in the same category Manu Bhaker failed to finish on the podium as she finished fifth because of an unfortunate weapon malfunction. Bhaker was leading the field before that with Sarnobat at the second place but once Sarnobat took the lead in the finals, she managed to maintain that till the end of the event.
Ukraine’s Olena Kostevych settled with the silver medal with 36 hits while Bulgaria’s Antoaneta Boneva finished third with 26. Earlier on Monday in the qualification round, Sarnobat and Bhaker had finished fourth and fifth respectively to get a place in the finals.
