ISSF World Cup | Saurabh Chaudhary and I share our experience with each other, says Abhishek Verma
After winning a gold medal at the ongoing ISSF World Cup in Beijing on Saturday, Abhishek Verma has said that he and Saurabh Chaudhary share their shooting experience with each other. Verma has also added that he doesn’t think a lot about the future results and his next goal is his next competition.
Abhishek Verma showed great composure in the final event yesterday to bag a gold medal for India in the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup in 10m air pistol event. With his performance in the final, the Indian shooter also bagged the fifth Olympic quota of the country. Verma scored 242.7 in the final to end at the top of the list during the world event. Earlier in the tournament, Manu Bhaker and Saurabh Chaudhary had managed to clinch gold in the 10 m air pistol mixed team event.
After clinching the medal, Verma talked about Saurabh Choudhary who is his roommate from the Asian Games and heaped praise on the teenager.
“Saurabh is my room partner from Asian Games and now also. We learn from each other and we both share our shooting experience with each other. We both try to give our best every time,” Verma told PTI.
“In every competition, I try to give my best and I look at every competition as a new one.”
Verma had made his World Cup debut in Delhi but couldn’t manage to get a ticket into the final. However, in the qualifying round in China, the Indian shot a total of 585 points and made it to the final round by finishing fourth. When asked about his aims and aspirations, Verma said that he doesn’t focus on the future results.
“I don’t focus on future outcomes, I just focus on the present situation and work hard to improve myself every day. My next goal is my next competition and I will work harder to maintain the standard and also try to improve myself,” the 28-year-old shooter said.
