PKL 2019 | Naveen Kumar can learn from this experience, states Krishan Kumar Hooda
After the game between Dabang Delhi and Bengaluru Bulls ended in a tie, Delhi coach Krishan Kumar Hooda has asserted that youngster Naveen Kumar can learn a lot from the last game’s experience. Hooda also said that they will want to remain at the top of the table till the end of the league stage.
Monday’s match between table-toppers Dabang Delhi and defending champions Bengaluru Bulls went into the last raid and eventually ended up in a tie as Naveen got out in the final raid for Delhi to left corner Amit Sheoran. The Bulls played ahead of the baulk line while trailing by only one point in the last raid and Naveen was successfully stopped by Sheoran while attempting to do that.
However, Delhi coach Krishan Kumar Hooda expressed his satisfaction after the tie and mentioned that Naveen can learn from this experience.
“The plan was to treat the baulk line as the bonus line. But a slight error in judgement cost us two points. However, these things happen. It’s all a part and parcel of this sport. We played brilliantly for 40 minutes. Naveen was outstanding and he can learn from this experience. I can say I'm satisfied with the performance,” Hooda was quoted as saying by the PKL website.
“There were a lot of moments where the tide turned in their favour first before swinging back in ours. So, I can’t pick one specific moment and call it the turning point of the match.”
As the Bulls made a good comeback in the last game, Delhi skipper Joginder Narwal praised the opposition and admitted that there were some mistakes by his players. “They are a brilliant team with a roster full of top-class players and they showed their class after that second All-Out. I cannot say that we made errors and that let them come back in the contest. They raided well and defended astutely during that period to level the score,” Joginder said after the match.
Delhi are at the top of the table at the moment with 72 points from 17 games and have already made it to the next round. The team will now try and play some of their young players who are on the bench but on the other hand, will also want to remain at the topmost position till the end of the league stage.
“Since we are at the top, we will continue playing our strongest seven. We will eventually give chances to some of the other players that we have but we want to ensure that we finish top of the pile,” the Delhi coach explained.
