PKL 2019 | Want to plan, work hard and strategize in rest period before home leg, says BC Ramesh
Bengal Warriors’ coach BC Ramesh said that they are looking forward to their home-leg and they would want to utilize the rest period of five to six days by working hard and planning. Bengal is currently second on the table and their position remained unaffected despite the loss against UP.
Bengal Warriors lost their fourth match out of the 12 matches they have played so far in the league. They started steady but weren’t able to hold onto that momentum as they weren’t able to inflict an all-out. They got super tackled twice in the first half and so UP Yoddha successfully avoided getting all-out.
The teams went neck to neck for the majority of the match but because of the inability of the raiders to get points in the last few minutes, the match shifted toward UP’s side. Bengal raiders' highest individual score was six points of Mohammed Nabibaksh whereas skipper Maninder Singh and K.Prapanjan only managed to score three and four points respectively.
“A lot of things could happen between now and the end of the season. There are no good or bad teams, in my opinion. All teams have good players and someone always tends to play well on the day,” coach BC Ramesh said when asked if he is concerned about losing their early form in the post-match press conference.
Bengal’s defensive unit made 11 unsuccessful tackle attempts and were only able to score 11 points. The highest scorer in the defence was Baldev Singh with a high five and he was well supported by the other corner Rinku Narwal who finished the match with three tackle points. Bengal would have hoped for a win as they are going to start their home leg from 7th September and going there with a win could have given them extra confidence.
“Yes, we’re happy to be back in our home city. We will have some time to plan and practice since we have a five or six-day rest period. So, we want to plan, work hard and strategize in that time,” the Bengal coach signed off.
