PKL 2019 | No player in Dabang Delhi plays for numbers, claims Joginder Narwal
Dabang Delhi KC skipper Joginder Narwal has said that not a single player in his team plays for individual numbers and they play as a unit. The Delhi defender has further added that the team stayed calm after starting on a poor note in their previous game against U Mumba in Wednesday.
Dabang Delhi became the first team in the ongoing season of the PKL to register three wins in the home leg. The team from the national capital are still unbeaten at home with one game to go and yesterday’s game against Mumba saw a huge 40-24 victory for Joginder Narwal and co. Naveen continued his brilliant run with his eighth consecutive Super 10 while in the defence, Ravinder Pahal and skipper Joginder got to their respective High 5s.
However, after the game, Joginder emphasised on the importance of the win for the players and said that the players keep the team in mind first and don’t play for their own records.
The match is never decided within the first two minutes.
Joginder Narwal, after the U Mumba win
“No player in this team plays for numbers. Be it me or Ravinder or Vishal Mane or Naveen. Each one of us plays for the team. Kabaddi is a team sport, so there are no individuals here. It doesn’t matter who does well on an individual level. We play as a unit and enjoy the wins as a unit,” Joginder mentioned while addressing the media.
Despite being the top team on the points table, Delhi had a poor start to the game last evening. Mumba had a 4-1 lead in the first few minutes but that didn’t matter in the end as Delhi went past with a huge win. Joginder said that lagging behind in the first few minutes had no impact on the team and they kept calm.
“The match is never decided within the first two minutes. We stayed calm. We played our game. And the result is the one we desired,” the Delhi captain signed off.
