Bengal Warriors coach BC Ramesh wants his team, who are currently second on the table, to win their upcoming games so that they could be on top of the league. Bengal won against Gujarat Fortunegiants by 2 points last night to secure their fourth win in seven matches so far this season.

Bengal Warriors were in good form in last night’s match against Gujarat Fortunegiants where they emerged victorious by a score of 28-26. It was an all round performance by Bengal Warriors as every player contributed to the win. Bengal took the lead early in the game by inflicting an all-out and ended the first half 17-12. Gujarat staged a good comeback by inflicting as many as four Super Tackles but eventually fell short by two points.

“This victory was of utmost importance. We had a substantial lead and we thought we could win by a good margin but in the end it was just a couple of points. But, this was still a big win for the team. And if we win our upcoming game, there’s a good chance we'll be at or around the top of the league,” coach BC Ramesh said in the post-match press conference.

The highest scorer in defence was Mohammed Nabibakhsh with two tackle points which indicates that their defence wasn’t at their best in the match. In the raiding department, though, Prapanjan was impressive as he scored eight raid points while skipper Maninder added another 5 of his own.

“Today they tried to target our Right Cover, Vijin Thangadurai, who’s short on game time. But we adapted so well positionally that they were unable to execute their plan,” coach BC Ramesh said about his defence.

The game eventually came down to the last raid of the game for Bengal who had to deal with a do or die raid whilst having a Super Tackle opportunity. Prapanjan, however, managed to return with a point as the clock went to double zeroes to seal the win for his side.

“Obviously, the defenders have been brilliant this year. Even today, Gujarat Fortunegiants made those Super Tackles at the end to get the game close. The teams are studying raiders and it’s important that we do that as well,” Prapanjan said on the trend of defenders doing well.

Bengal Warriors is all set to face the table toppers, Dabang Delhi in their next encounter, which is on the August 17 and it's going to be an interesting match between the top 2 teams. Ramesh had only good things to say about his next opponents who have surprised most of the league with their quick start this time around.

“Dabang Delhi K.C. is an excellent team. If you look at the results, they are among the best teams in the league. We'll have to raid well as well as defend well in that game if we want to beat them. We have already learned a lot about ourselves for the matches so far and I’m confident we can do well. Our raiding department has been phenomenal and I’m sure they'll do well against Dabang Delhi K.C. as well,” coach BC Ramesh signed off.
