India’s men’s team overcame New Zealand in the final, where it mattered the most, as five different scorers from the Men in Blue helped them win 5-0. This was also the perfect revenge for the India B side that lost 2-1 to the Black Sticks in the group stages before beating Japan to reach the final.

A clinical performance by India saw the likes of Nilakanta Sharma, Nilam Sanjeep Xess and Gurjant Singh scoring a whopping six goals to down the hosts ahead of the extravaganza next year. Finishing second in the points table, India would be facing New Zealand on Wednesday in the final.

Two goals each by Mandeep Singh and Gursahibjit Singh helped India register an emphatic 6-0 win against Malaysia in their first game of the Olympic Test Event in Tokyo, Japan. Gurinder Singh and SV Sunil scored one each for the Harmanpreet Singh-led team against their continental rivals.

The Indian women’s team got off to a good start in the Olympic Test Event in Tokyo as they defeated hosts Japan 2-1. The Rani Rampal-led side will now take on world no. 2 Australia in their second game of the tournament on Sunday at the Oi Hockey Stadium in Japan’s capital city.
