Indian defender Surender Singh is set to miss India's upcoming Asian Champions Trophy semi-final clash on Saturday, and the final if they make it through, after being suspended for 2 games. The Asian Hockey Federation found him guilty of a serious foul against Malaysia in a disciplinary hearing.
Surender was shown a yellow card in the fourth quarter of India's last group-stage fixture against Malaysia on Wednesday after his stick hit the chin of a Malaysian player. "Surender was shown a yellow card by the umpire for an off-the-ball incident in which Surender lifted his stick in an appropriate manner, thereby causing his stick to hit the chin of a Malaysian player.
"Having considered the evidence before me, including the explanation given by Surender, I have imposed a two-match suspension," Appoo said in a statement.
