Arsenal have always been targeting best players in world, proclaims Mikel Arteta
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta believes that the club have always attracted the best players in the world and that doesn’t change whether or not they play Champions League football. This comes in light of the club being linked with a move for Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic alongside a few others.
With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang reportedly set to leave Arsenal once he comes back from the Africa Cup of Nations, it has seen the Gunners heavily linked with a new striker. The club reportedly have a shortlist of five names but reports have indicated that Dusan Vlahovic is their top target. But the Serbian striker has been linked with a move to Real Madrid, Barcelona and even Manchester City with him looking to play Champions League football.
That does come as a problem for Arsenal as the Gunners haven’t played Champions League football in five years and even missed out on European football this season by finishing eighth last term. Yet despite that, Mikel Arteta believes that the Gunners have always targeted big stars and that won’t change whether or not they play Champions League football. He also added that the club hasn’t had any problems so far and he doesn’t anticipate any in the future.
"Historically this club has always been targeting the best players in the world and the best players in the world were always interested to come here and I can say that situation hasn't changed. Every time I have spoken to any player, they were so willing to come," Arteta said, reported ESPN.
"I haven't faced any other situation and that is one of our biggest powers. Our capacity to get the attention of people to come and join our club is something that is an advantage for us."
