Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has admitted he is keen for team-mate Gareth Bale to stay at the club amidst reports of Bale leaving Madrid in January. Gareth Bale has endured an on and off relationship with manager Zinedine Zidane and Real Madrid faithful which has fuelled reports of his exit.

Gareth Bale has been questioned on his ability and talent ever since his move from Tottenham in 2013 when he joined the Los Blancos for a club-record fee. He was expected to be a Galactico and put up similar numbers to what Cristiano Ronaldo once did but injuries and inconsistency in form have plagued his career. He has often been booed and whistled by Madrid fans prompting him to rethink about his future at the club. However, Luka Modric went on to admit that he doesn't want Bale to leave Real Madrid.

The 2018 Ballon d'Or winner revealed that he believes the Welsh superstar still has a lot to offer the club and they cannot afford to lose him. The two Los Blancos teammates played against each other when Wales battled Croatia and the 2018 Ballon d'Or winner has emphasized Bale’s importance in the team. Bale has been linked with a move to China and Jiangsu Suning came close to signing the winger with Bale offered £1 million a week. But the deal eventually fell apart and the former Tottenham star ended up staying at the Santiago Bernabeu.

“He is an amazing player and very important for the team. He is showing that this season. Hopefully, he will stay this season and the next seasons as well,” said Modric to Spanish newspaper AS.

The Spanish newspaper AS has further reported that Bale feels he has had enough at the club and wants to depart in the summer. The 30-year-old winger whose contract runs till 2022 came extremely close to leaving Santiago Bernabeu. Manager Zinedine Zidane went public to say that Bale is not needed at the club and should leave. However, Marco Asensio suffered a cruciate ligament rupture and will be out for rest of the season prompting to change plans for Bale. The Wales superstar has had a positive start this season and has been directly involved in 4 goals.

This makes him the club's second most creative player behind Karim Benzema. Not only that the 30-year-old has made seven appearances for Madrid so but he was left out of the Madrid side for their Champions League clash against Club Brugge, which has him uncertain about his future.
