Reports | Tottenham reignite interest in Bruno Fernandes
Tottenham are set to renew their interest in signing Sporting star Bruno Fernandes in January. The Portuguese midfielder was heavily linked with a move to Tottenham during the summer transfer window along with Paulo Dybala and Giovani Lo Celso and in the end, but they signed it Lo Celso in the end.
Tottenham will renew their interest in Sporting midfielder Bruno Fernandes who has started has started this season exceptionally with 7 goals and 2 assists in 10 games. Spurs for long have been linked to the Portuguese player and had seen bid rejected from Sporting during the summer. Sky Sports report says that Spurs will once again look to test Sporting’s patience as the North Londoners try and seek reinforcements to improve their current dismal form. Mauricio Pochettino’s men have endured a horrible start to the season with the club having just 11 points in 8 games and suffering in the UEFA Champions League too.
Spurs were thrashed by German Champions Bayern Munich 2-7 in the New Tottenham Hotspur stadium, increasing pressure on Mauricio Pochettino to deliver his promises. Spurs spent heavily in the transfer market recruiting Tanguay Ndombele, Ryan Sessegnon and Giovani Lo Celso. Bruno Fernandes too was on the verge of a move to North London but Daniel Levy refused to meet his £60 million valuation. Fernandes was also linked to other European heavyweights like Manchester United and Real Madrid but no move materialised and the 25-year-old ended up staying in Portugal.
Spurs playmaker Christian Eriksen is bound to leave Spurs on a free transfer when his contract expires next summer and Spurs think of Fernandes as a perfect replacement. Tottenham hierarchy do not want to let their star midfielder leave on a free transfer and are willing to accept a £30 million bid for the Danish international in January. If Eriksen leaves in January, Spurs will get the necessary funds to acquire Fernandes who is still valued at £55 million.
