ISL 2019-20 | Three players from FC Goa and NorthEast United FC suspended by AIFF
The AIFF suspended FC Goa's Seiminlen Doungel, Hugo Boumous, and NorthEast United's Kai Heerings for their misconduct in the ISL match between both sides in Guwahati on November 1. The three players are suspended for three games as they were in a fight in the late minutes of the thrilling game.
The All India Football Federation suspended three players from FC Goa and NorthEast United on Sunday for their misconduct in the match played between the sides on November 1 in Guwahati. Seiminlen Doungel and Hugo Boumous are the FC Goa players suspended while Kai Heerings got suspended from NorthEast United.
The match between FC Goa and NorthEast United on November 1 ended in a 2-2 draw and in the late minutes there were plenty of drama. Substitute Seiminlen Doungel fouled a NorthEast player from the back and was given a straight red card for the offence. FC Goa was trailing 1-2 at the time. However, players from both sides quarrelled and a small fight broke out and the referee had a hard time controlling it.
However, seconds later FC Goa found an equalizer through substitute Manvir Singh to draw the match 2-2. Red carded Seiminlen Doungel received a three-match suspension and the players have served it in an away game against Mumbai City FC. The winger will have to sit out in the game against Jamshedpur FC and Kerala Blasters. Hugo Boumous, who returned from an injury, will also serve a two-match ban.
Both Goan players will be available for selection against Hyderabad FC on December 8. Meanwhile, NorthEast United's key foreign defender Kai Heerings will serve the two-match ban against Mumbai and Jamshedpur. The Dutch defender will be available against ATK on December 7.
