Subrata Bhattacharya has been appointed as the new coach of the Kolkata-based football club Mohammedan Sporting on Friday. The club has made the announcement of the appointment of the new coach after former coach Raghu Nandy’s contract with the club expired earlier in April this year.

With a vast experience of playing and coaching in Indian football, Subrata Bhattacharya will join the historic Mohammedan Sporting, Kolkata as their coach for the upcoming season. The former defender of the Indian national team has an experience of more than 20 years as a mentor and coach and he will take over as the head coach of the side after Raghu Nandy’s contract expired last month.

“I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Bablu Da to Mohammedan Sporting Club. He brings with him a wealth of experience and professionalism. It is our desire that the club goes back to it’s former glory and in Bablu Da we believe that we have someone who can achieve that,” club’s general secretary Jb. Mohammad Qamaruddin told TOI.

On the other hand, Bhattacharya expressed his delight over the appointment and said that he hopes to repay the faith that the club showed in him.

“I greatly appreciate the opportunity to work as Head Coach of Mohammedan Sporting Club. It is my sincere hope and desire that I can repay the faith the club has shown in me,” said Bhattacharya.
