Reports | Manchester United target Ruben Dias to stay at Benfica
Benfica's defender Ruben Dias has decided to stay at the club for another season despite being a top target for a number of European sides. Manchester United and Arsenal were inserted in that lot of possible destinations for the player, but chances of signing him have become slim.
After an impressive season that culminated with a UEFA Nations League title for his national team Ruben Dias stock hit the stratosphere. It saw him draw serious interest from more than one European powerhouse, including Manchester City. Reports have suggested that a transfer was very probable this summer, given the serious interest.
However, according to the Daily Mail, the 22-year-old will prolong his stay in Portugal, increasing his release clause to €88 million alongside an improved contract. As it looks like, both English teams are set to miss out on Dias for now, turning their attention instead to Harry Maguire and Daniele Rugani for United and Arsenal respectively.
The Red Devils and the Gunners look to improve their defensive lines, as, at the moment, it’s the most fragile part of their squads. While Manchester United conceeded the most goals amongst the top six sides last season, Arsenal were a close second. The Premier League's transfer deadline day is almost here and both managers are expecting more signings from their boards, in order to challenge for every title this season.
