Jamshedpur FC to start ISL without star signing Tim Cahill
After parting ways with experienced coach Steve Coppell ahead of the new season, Jamshedpur FC would also be without midfielder Tim Cahill in their opening game. The club takes on veterans Mumbai FC and last season’s runner-up Bengaluru FC in their opening two games.
Earlier in the year, playing for in a Championship side Millwall FC, Cahill was involved in an incident against Fulham FC that was deemed violent. He was consequently handed a three-match ban. And it would prevent the player from starting for his latest club Jamshedpur FC in
The Football Association(FA) had then handed a customary three-match suspension to Australia’s all-time leading goal scorer, which he couldn’t fully serve due to the early exit. Since
Prior Jamshedpur FC, the veteran Australian midfielder has played for the likes of Everton, New York Red Bulls, Melbourne City and of course, Millwall FC. His claim to fame, however, came through Everton FC where he had played eight seasons making 278 appearances and 68 goals.
Making their debut in the ISL last season, Jamshedpur finished in an encouraging fifth position and is looking to take the next big steps. And an experienced midfielder like Cahill would be playing a big role in the process.
Jamshedpur would be facing Mumbai and last season’s runner-up Bengaluru FC in their first two consecutive matches and would be hoping to get their best first eleven as early as possible. Apart from Cahill, the club has brought in Sergio Cidoncha, Mario Arques, Carlos Salvao and others to start the new season with a bolstered squad.
