Liverpool 3; Everton 1

Saturday kicked off with the Merseyside Derby between Liverpool and Everton. Philippe Coutinho was the star of the game as his dazzling performance inspired the 3-1 victory over Everton.

Sadio Mane scored the first goal in the eighth minute from a Roberto Firminio pass. Matthew Pennigton made his season debut count for Everton as he put in a Phil Jagielka flick at the near post during a corner.

In the 31st minute, Coutinho showed his class by getting the ball 40 yards out and drifting past two defenders to score a magnificent goal to help Liverpool reclaim the lead. In the 60th minute Divock Origi scored for Liverpool, clinching the 13th consecutive win against Everton.

The victory means a consolidated position for Liverpool in the third spot as they eye a Champions League place.

Chelsea shocked by Crystal Palace

Chelsea went down to Crystal Palace for what was their first home league defeat since September.

Cesc Fabregas opened the scoring for the League leaders in what appeared to be another easy day for the Blues. But the Eagles were in no mood to give up and goals by Wilfried Zaha in the ninth minute and Christain Benteke in the 11th minute gave the away side some hope.

In the second half, Chelsea switched to attack mode but the Crystal Palace defense was able to hold on to clinch a satisfying victory. The win sends Crystal Palace four points clear of the relegation zone while Chelsea's lead was cut down to seven points.

Tottenham defeat Burnley 2-0

Leicester City turned in an improved performance after the sacking of Claudio Ranieri by winning four consecutive games. The Foxes scored midway in the first half through Wilfred Nididi who came up with an outstanding long range effort.

Hull City 2; West Ham United 1
