Amid Taliban takeover of Afghanistan, ACB CEO Hamid Shinwari has said that the board is hopeful of hosting West Indies and Australia for a T20I tri-series. He added that the Afghanistan Cricket Board is planning to conduct the series either in Qatar or UAE ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021.

Afghanistan skipper Rashid Khan has admitted that experience in the team is a must to excel in the longest format of the game as they given away the great starts they had in the first innings. Rashid has also called for a change in their domestic setup to promote first-class cricket ahead of T20s.

Afghanistan’s head coach Lalchand Rajput is confident in his team succeeding against the West Indies despite playing on an adopted venue as they know the conditions well. After the T20I and ODI series, the two teams will meet for a lone Test match at the Ekana International Stadium in Lucknow.

As West Indies clean swept the ODI series against Afghanistan, youngster Nicholas Pooran has landed himself into trouble after being suspended by the ICC for four T20Is in a ball-tampering case. Pooran has accepted the charge and has apologized and assured that the mistake won't be repeated.
