In the IPL 2008 season, Mumbai Indians didn’t have a great start as they finished at the fifth position and didn’t go to the playoffs. In the 14 games that they played, they won 7 games and lost the other 7. Sachin Tendulkar, Shaun Pollock and Harbhajan Singh played a major role for them in that season.
The 2009 IPL season was the worst season for the Mumbai Indians as they finished at the seventh position in the points table. In the 14 matches that they played, they won only 5 of them and lost the other 8 matches. Sachin Tendulkar again played a major role for them during the 2009 IPL season.
The 2010 IPL season ended with a heartbreak for the Mumbai Indians franchise as they lost the finals against Chennai Super Kings and finished as the Runners-up in the season. In that season, Mumbai Indians played 16 matches and won 11 matches but lost 5 matches too. Sachin Tendulkar was again the lone performer for them in the season.
In the 2011 season, Mumbai Indians played in the same way as the previous season. They played 14 matches and won 9 matches out of them. With this, they finished at the second position in the points table and went into the playoffs. However, they lost to Royal Challengers Bangalore in the second qualifier of the season and were out of the tournament after that.
The 2012 IPL Season was a cut-copy-paste for the Mumbai Indians as they again made it to the Playoffs of the season but still failed to win the IPL title. They played 16 matches in the league stage and finished at the third position in the points table. They lost to Chennai Super Kings in the eliminator of the season and were out of the tournament after this match.
The 2013 season finally came as the most successful year for the Mumbai Indians team as they managed to win the IPL trophy for the first time under Rohit Sharma. The team defeated Chennai Super Kings in the finals and took revenge for the 2010 IPL Finals loss. In the league stage, they finished at the second position and were just under Chennai Super Kings who were at the top of the points table. Sachin Tendulkar finally got the IPL trophy in that season.
In the IPL 2014 season, Mumbai Indians failed to defend their IPL title as they lost against Chennai Super Kings in the eliminator of the IPL season. However, they played well during the league stage as they finished at the fourth spot with 7 wins in 14 games. In this season, Mumbai Indians didn’t have a great start to the season but still got to the next stage of the tournament.
The 2015 IPL season came as a fairytale for the Mumbai Indians as they managed to win their second IPL title within a span of 3 years. In the finals, they managed to beat Chennai Super Kings and claimed the IPL title. During the league stage, they played 14 matches and won 8 of them and lost just 6 matches to enter the playoffs. This was Rohit Sharma’s third IPL trophy (twice as a captain and once as a player)
The IPL 2016 season didn’t have much for the Mumbai Indians team as, after a gap of 5 years, they didn’t get into the playoffs and were knocked out in just the league stage. They played 14 matches in that season and won just 7 out of them. They lost the other 7 matches and thus didn’t get the chance to play in the Playoffs.
The IPL 2017 season again came as one of the best seasons for the Mumbai Indians as they won their third IPL title in just 5 seasons and became the most successful team in IPL history. In the finals, they managed to beat Steve Smith’s Rising Pune Supergiants by just 1 run. During the league stage, they finished at the top position and were unstoppable in that whole season.
The IPL 2018 season again came as a disaster for the Mumbai Indians as they failed to make it to the playoffs. During the league stage, they won just 6 matches and lost 8 matches which led them to finish in the fifth spot in the points table. Rohit Sharma and other young batters didn’t have a great season along with the bowlers and thus they were out of the tournament in the league stage.
The IPL 2019 season was again a copy-cut-paste of the 2015 and 2017 seasons as Mumbai Indians won their fourth IPL title and became the most successful franchise in the history of the Indian Premier League. The team finished in the first position at the points table as they won 9 matches out of the 14 that they played. They beat Chennai Super Kings in the finals of the season.
The 2020 IPL season ended the Mumbai Indians curse of not winning the IPL trophies during the even year as they dominated their opponents in the whole season and won the IPL trophy by defeating Delhi Capitals in the Finals. During the league stage, they again finished at the top spot as they won 9 matches out of the 14 that they played and hence were unstoppable in that season.
The 2021 IPL Season came as another worst season for the Mumbai Indians as they didn’t go to the playoffs and finished at the fifth spot in the points table. They played 14 matches and managed to win only 7 of them which led to their downfall in that season. Mumbai Indians batters like Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan failed to fire on the big stage and hence they were knocked out of the season.
The 2022 IPL Season was the worst season for the team in blue. Mumbai Indians finished in the last position in the points table as they only won 4 games out of the 14 that they played. Apart from Suryakumar Yadav, no other batter performed well and even the weak bowling led the team down. The absence of the players like Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Trent Boult and many more made the task tough for the team.
Over the period of 15 years, Mumbai Indians has seen some of the best performances from their camp and hence the numbers are just too good which makes this team one of the best in the business. Players like Rohit Sharma, Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting and many more have played for this franchise and hence the stats of the players are of just top level.
