In times of misfortune, one always tends to find a way to fight back and gain momentum. The Indian contingent resonated a similar force altogether during the second innings before the gloomy weather slumped them to capitalise on the new ball leaving Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli furious.

Rishabh Pant joined a well-set Sarfaraz Khan at the start of the day’s play to build a 177-run gargantuan partnership that set up India’s 462 runs second innings tally. With a lead of 106 runs, certainly, the ball was at the visitor’s court but India did not opt out from a fightback. With Jasprit Bumrah getting movements with the new ball, Devon Conway looked uncomfortable for the first four balls before the umpire had to review the lighting in the environment, making the fielding captain unhappy.

On-field umpire Michael Gough was seen putting the light meter in the grooves of the bails after the fourth ball of the fourth innings with the darkness encroaching. As they decided to ask the players to leave the field, Rohit walked up to them and justified his disadvantage. The decision would mean India misses out on a potential chance to get wickets with the new ball under overhead conditions. Henceforth, Rohit was seen arguing with the officials with Virat Kohli joining him in quick time. For a couple of minutes, the debate was the center of attraction for everyone in the field before the weather further deteriorated, forcing the umpire’s verdict as the final one and sending the Twitterverse divided.
