IND vs BAN | Sanju Samson ton and Surya’s masterclass fuel India’s charge in record breaking run-fest
India beat Bangladesh by 133 runs in Hyderabad, completing a 3-0 series whitewash. The Indian batting was spearheaded by Sanju Samson’s explosive 111 runs off 47 deliveries, alongside Suryakumar Yadav’s 75 whereas Bangladesh struggled to form partnerships and ultimately succumbed to 164/7.
The two Asian sides squared off during India’s festive season as the Men in Blue faced Bangladesh in the final T20I at Hyderabad. India skipper Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and chose to bat first. The decision proved fruitful as Sanju Samson rediscovered his long-lost form, smashing four consecutive fours in the second over and lifting India to 23/0 in just two overs. However, Abhishek Sharma's struggles on the tour continued as he fell in the third over, managing only a meagre four runs. Nonetheless, Surya and Samson kept the momentum going, pushing the score to 82/1 at the end of the powerplay. The onslaught continued, with Samson scoring a blistering century off just 40 deliveries, propelling the score to 190/1 in 13 overs. The duo departed in quick succession, paving the way for Riyan Parag and Hardik Pandya who forged a partnership of 70 runs. This collaboration took India to a record-breaking 267/3 in 18 overs. Although there were a few wickets lost toward the end, India finished with 297/6 in 20 overs. This score marked India’s highest total in T20I cricket, as Hyderabad witnessed an extraordinary display of batting from the home side.
In response, Bangladesh got off to a poor start, losing opener Parvez Hossain Emon on the very first ball of the match. The situation worsened when Tanzid Hasan departed in the fourth over, leaving Bangladesh in deep trouble. Litton Das also failed to fire, walking back after playing a poor shot, as Bangladesh found themselves at 59/3 by the end of the powerplay. However, Litton and Towhid Hridoy managed to build a 53-run partnership, taking the score to 107/3 in 11 overs. Unfortunately, Litton’s innings was cut short when he fell to Ravi Bishnoi in the 12th over. The required run rate climbed to over 27 as the visitors’ hopes dwindled. By the end of 15 overs, Bangladesh tallied 133/5, needing 165 runs to win. With wickets continuing to fall and no realistic chance of victory, Bangladesh could manage only 164/7 runs in 20 overs, as India won the contest by 133 runs, completing a clean sweep of the series 3-0.
