WATCH, BGT | Virat Kohli’s banter steals the show as Aussie struggles spark laughter
When your team is navigating challenges, an opposing player can occasionally turn the tension into lighthearted moments with their antics. Virat Kohli did just that on the third day of the first Test in Perth, engaging in playful banter and exchanges with the Australian players on the field.
One such instance occurred when Nathan Lyon’s off-break spun sharply off the cracks on the Perth pitch, angling in dangerously close to the leg stump before narrowly missing it. As Kohli took a single, he shared a grin with Lyon, who described the delivery as "decent." Kohli humorously responded, urging him to take it easy.
In another amusing episode, Mitchell Marsh bowled a fuller delivery outside the off-stump to Rishabh Pant. Pant advanced down the track as if to attack but ultimately chose to leave the ball. Marsh smiled at Pant's antics, and Kohli seized the moment to tease, slyly remarking that Pant, set to fetch big money in the IPL auction, wasn’t willing to hit big shots just yet. Coincidentally, Pant later made history by becoming the costliest IPL player, sold to the Lucknow Super Giants for a staggering ₹27 crores.
Adding to the humour, Kohli playfully asked Australian wicketkeeper Alex Carey if the ball was spinning from both ends, drawing laughter from the field. While the Australians faced mounting pressure, Kohli’s quick wit and continuous chatter brought a touch of entertainment to an otherwise intense day of cricket.
Funny Man!
.@imVkohli is the king of chatter on the field! From light-hearted banter to giving his teammates batting advice, we’re loving every second of it! 😎
