WATCH | Bangladesh fielder's hilarious musical chair over a catch drop in the slip cordon
If fielding fumbles were an Olympic sport, some cricketers would definitely be gold medalists. Such was the case in the second test between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh as Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto, Shahadat Hossain Dipu, and Zakir Hasan constituted a comedy of errors over a catching chance.
Lagging 1-0 in the two-match Test series, Bangladesh did not start the second Test on a pleasant note after Sri Lankan top order muscled them on the first day with six of their seven batters notching up fifty-plus scores. Despite being pushed to the wall, the Bangladeshi bowlers created chances but lacked fielding assistance with one of the instances witnessing three of the slip fielders playing musical chairs in the slip cordon.
On the fifth ball of the 121st over, Khaled Ahmed sprayed a full-pitch delivery outside the off-stump line that Prabath Jayasuriya looked to drive using the front foot. He failed to reach the pitch of the ball and got the outside edge towards the first slip where the Bangladesh captain juggled twice for the catch. In a fraction of a second, the moment turned into a comedy of errors as the ball rebounded off Shanto’s palm towards a diving second slip fielder who fumbled as the ball looped off his hand as well to fall just short of a stretched third slip fielder.
Seeing all three slip fielders putting in effort and failing to catch the ball, the Twitterverse could not resist cranking laughs.
Circus level fielding
A juggling act with the ball. 👀
