Shivam Dube replaces Nitish Kumar Reddy for the Zimbabwe tour
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that Shivam Dube will replace Nitish Kumar Reddy in the upcoming T20I series against Zimbabwe. The BCCI initially included Nitish in the 15-member squad, announced on Monday, but due to an injury, he will now be replaced by Dube.
The 21-year-old Vizag born was in the news lately with his brilliant performance in the Indian Premier League which concluded last month. Nitish Kumar Reddy scored 303 runs at an average of 33.67 and a strike rate of 142.92, playing a crucial role in bolstering the SRH middle order. Furthermore, with the ball, he scalped three wickets and was adjudged the Emerging player of the season. Meanwhile, Dube is currently part of the Indian squad competing in the ICC World T20. The Mumbai all-rounder had a mediocre performance in the tournament, scoring just 106 runs with an average of 26.50 and a strike rate of 107.07.
In an official statement on their website, BCCI said, “ The Men’s Selection Committee named Shivam Dube as a replacement for the injured Nitish Reddy in India’s squad for the upcoming tour of Zimbabwe.” They further added, “ The BCCI Medical Team is monitoring Nitish Reddy’s progress”.
Led by Shubman Gill, India will play Zimbabwe in the five-match T20I series in Harare, starting from July 06, 2024.
