NEP vs BAN | Twitter reacts to fiery Sakib’s four-for deny valiant Nepal as Bangladesh gush into Super Eight
Bangladesh beat Nepal by 21 runs in a game full of crests and troughs, grabbing a spot in Group 1 of the Super Eight stage. All-round bowling from Nepal curtailed the Tigers to 106 before Tanzid Hasan Sakib’s four-for and Mustafizur Rahman's three-fer eclipse a courageous Nepalese effort.
Brief Scores: BAN: 106 [Shakib: 17, Rishad: 13; Sompal: 2/10] beat NEP: 85 [Malla: 27, Airee: 25; Sakib: 4/7] by 21 runs.
Winning the toss and electing to field first, Nepal struck on the first ball itself after Sompal Kami outwit Tanzid Hasan Sakib. Dipendra Singh Airee cleaned up captain Najmul Hossain Shanto in the next over before Kami and Rohit Paudel removed Litton Das and Towhid Hridoy, to sum up Bangladesh’s 31-run powerplay. While Mahmadullah and Shakib tried to negate the spinners, the former enticed the latter into a horrible mixup, thereby losing a wicket in the form of a run-out. The southpaw did not last long too, as Paudel finished off his impressive spell of 4-0-20-2 by trapping Shakib plumb in front in the 12th over. Subsequently, Sandeep Lamichhane cleaned up the lower middle order, reducing them to 75/8 in 15 overs. Eventually, the tail and Rishad Hossain added 31 more runs before the Asian side was folded with four balls to spare.
In response, Nepal’s start with a lucky boundary saw a horrendous U-turn as Tanzim Hasan Sakib spit venom with the ball. He challenged the top-order throughout the powerplay, claiming a four-for with after following up a double wicket maiden with a wicket maiden to wrap up 24 runs powerplay. Two overs later, Nepal found themselves reeling at 34/5 with Dipendra Singh Airee and Kushal Malla negating the spinners by milking singles amidst dot balls. The duo took their time to settle in and stitch a 52-run sixth-wicket partnership before Mustafizur Rahman outdid Malla in the 17th over. A six from Airee against Taskin Ahmed curtailed the equation to 23 required off 16 balls before the pacer kept Nepal in bay for 22 runs in 12 balls. Subsequently, Mustafizur bowled a brilliant wicket maiden in the 19th over followed by Shakib Al Hasan claiming a couple of scalps in the final over to bundle Nepal for 85.

Nepal failed to prove again!
Nepal should have won those 2 matches against South Africa and Bangladesh and qualified for the super eight but their batting let them down.

If they can improve their mediocre batting then they can be a real threat to the opposition in upcoming World Cups. pic.twitter.com/SwZd3CkdGH
