Twitter reacts as Flight 'AIC24WC' carries Champions home amidst Hurricane Beryl
Achievement should naturally lead to a period of relaxation, allowing individuals to recharge and reflect on their successes. Although Team India got their time off after a successful T20 World Cup triumph, their way to head back home was temporarily halted by Hurricane Beryl until July 3.
The Men in Blue led by Rohit Sharma outclassed South Africa by seven runs in the 2024 T20 World Cup final to break an eleven-year-old losing streak in ICC events. Following celebrations post-match, the team was supposed to board a flight on July 2 eyeing to bring the cup home quickly. However, the onset of Hurricane Beryl on July 1 delayed proceedings for the Champions.
The calamity struck the Windward Islands and the surrounding regions with utmost destruction, causing the cancellation of flights and disruption of communication and transportation. However, as the calamity eased off, the BCCI managed to arrange a chartered flight for the Indian team that is supposed to land in Delhi at 6 AM on July 4 (IST). A sense of relief prevailed in the Indian camp after this temporary halt and the Twitterverse expressed ecstasy to welcome the Champions home.
It's coming home!
