After being dropped from the national team and removed from a central contract by the BCCI earlier in February, Ishan Kishan now faces increased scrutiny. Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah has now warned the Jharkhand skipper sternly on his India return.

‌Ishan Kishan is all set to make his return to Duleep Trophy taking place later this year. Currently, Kishan is captaining Jharkhand in the Buchi Babu Trophy in Chennai, where he made a remarkable statement by scoring a brilliant century, signalling his re-entry into the domestic scene.

The 26-year-old has been absent from the national team after being denied a central contract by the BCCI, reportedly due to concerns over prioritising the IPL over domestic cricket. However, he found some relief when granted permission to compete in domestic competitions, beginning with the Buchi Babu Trophy.

On Day 2 of Jharkhand's opening match against Madhya Pradesh in the Buchi Babu Trophy, Ishan Kishan scored a blistering century off just 86 balls, finishing with a knock of 114. His innings played a crucial role in helping Jharkhand surpass Madhya Pradesh's first-innings total of 225. The southpaw brought up his century with back-to-back sixes, marking an impressive return to red-ball cricket after making his Test debut for India during the July 2023 tour of the West Indies.

Amidst these developments, Jay Shah has issued a new warning concerning Ishan Kishan's potential return to the Men in the Blue squad. As per a report by Times of India, Shah said, “ He (Ishan Kishan) will have to follow the rules. He will have to play domestic cricket.”

Kishan was last part of the Indian team during the tour of South Africa in 2023, after which he took a break from cricket. In 2023, he featured in two Tests, 17 ODIs, and 11 T20Is. He was also included in India's squad for the 2023 ODI World Cup, where he played two matches at the top of the order.
