Gwalior to replace Dharamsala as venue for Bangladesh T20I
The venue for the first T20I between India and Bangladesh has been shifted from Dharamsala to Gwalior, as confirmed by the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI). This will be India’s first-ever international outing in Gwalior since Sachin Tendulkar’s double century against South Africa in 2010.
It is also worth noting that there’s a swap in the venue for the first and second T20I against England following the Border Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. The first game of the five-match T20I series will be played in Kolkata (22nd January 2025) whereas the second match will take place in Chennai (25th January 2025).
Earlier, the Kolkata Police had requested for the venue shift to the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), which was forwarded to the BCCI.
"The venue change was necessitated following a request from Kolkata Police to the Cricket Association of Bengal regarding their prior Republic Day commitments and obligations," the BCCI release read.
