When things go wrong in cricket, they have the tendency to spiral into outright humiliation, and such was the case for RCB on Monday. Aiden Markram was dismissed off a no-ball in the death overs that eventually culminated in Sunrisers Hyderabad breaking their own record for the highest IPL total.

‌‌Sunrisers Hyderabad took to the Chinnaswamy with a premeditated plan to tear the Royal Challengers Bengaluru bowling attack to shreds and their intentions paid off handsomely. Travis Head set the tone with a 39-ball century before Heinrich Klaasen's blitzkrieg of 69 from just 31 deliveries brought the visitors within touching distance of breaching the 277-run mark, a record SRH themselves had set earlier in the season against Mumbai Indians. However, RCB seemed intent to stop themselves from going into the history books by striking down both incumbent batters in the space of three deliveries, only for the umpires to add insult to their injury.

Following Klaasen's wicket, Aiden Markram mistimed a Yash Dayal full-toss on the second ball of the 18th over towards short third-man where a diving Reece Topley took an excellent catch. The team immediately gathered into a huddle but a blaring siren interrupted their celebrations before the on-field umpire extended his hand to signal a no-ball. As it turned out, Markram stayed through to the end unbeaten on 32 off 17 deliveries and along with Abdul Samad's stunning 10-ball 37 helped the team comfortably clear their previous score to post 287/3 on the board.

The innings featured 22 maximums and 19 boundaries with no bowler able to maintain an economy rate of under 10, and left Twitterati buzzing with excitement.
