Funny things happen on a cricket field and it was no coincidence that Steve Smith - the master entertainer - was at the centre of a fine brainfade, however, this time, he was not the culprit. Lakshan Sandakan uprooted the stumps with one hand, despite the ball being in other, to give Smith a life.

Australia put up an absolutely dominating show at the Gabba today - both with bat and ball - and it was Steve Smith and David Warner who led the team to victory. While the team was almost cruising being few minutes away from taking an unassailable 2-0 lead, Lakshan Sandakan left everyone laughing their backside off with a brain-fade that was typical of Sri Lanka’s other two Asian rivals - Pakistan and Bangladesh.

As Sandakan bowled a full ball to David Warner, which the southpaw hit it back to him with an intent that would have gone past the boundary if it had been slightly off the wicket line. Sandakan made a dive to collect the delivery but left absolutely clueless and was nowhere near touching the ball.

He, in fact, collected it on deflection and with Smith backing up way too far, the Chinaman spinner had enough time in his hands to ensure Smith was dismissed. However, instead of uprooting the stumps in the same hand that he had the ball in, Sandakan dislodged the stumps on the other hand. It left everyone shell-shocked and Smith was also wondering what was Sandakan doing. The spinner was so embarrassed at his own act that he had put on a difficult smile.
