Ireland to tour West Indies for limited-over matches in 2020
The Ireland Cricket team will tour West Indies for three ODIs and three T20s early in 2020 in a bid to further cement their reputation as a growing threat in international cricket. Ireland are currently ranked 11th in the Men's ICC ODI rankings, two spots below the Windies who currently stand ninth.
Cricket West Indies announced on Monday (September 30) that Ireland will be touring the Caribbean for a full-fledged limited-overs tour during the start of the next calendar year. In a span of 12 days, the two teams are scheduled to play three ODIs and three T20Is with the tour starting off at Kensington Oval in Barbados and finishing up at the Warner Park in St.Kitts.
The two teams last faced each other in a tri-series prior to the 2019 World Cup in Dunedin, with the West Indies comfortably winning both the encounters. However, Ireland did famously score a victory over the Caribbean nation, chasing down a mammoth target of 305 to down the Jason Holder-led side in the 2015 World Cup.
The series will commence with the ODIs and finish up with the T20Is, with the first of the three ODIs set to be played on January 7 in Barbados.
