West Indies announced the squad ahead of the series against India, where Shai Hope has been dropped despite scoring a 46-ball 52 against Afghanistan. Further, Alzarri Joseph has been omitted from the squad as Fabian Allen makes his way back into the T20I squad for the India series.

Shai Hope and Alzarri Joseph miss out on the 15-man list for the India tour, as Fabian Allen makes a return to the T20 squad after suffering an injury earlier in the year. The Keiron Pollard-led Windies side made two changes to the squad that suffered a defeat at the hands of Afghanistan in the recently-concluded T20I series.

Hope’s name missing out from the squad comes as a direct result of the management trying out a new set of players prior to the 2020 T20 World Cup in Australia. In the only game that Hope played against Afghanistan, he scored a 46-ball 52. The right-handed batsman, however, will make his return to the ODI set-up as a deputy to Pollard later in the month.

Nicolas Pooran will be available for selection, after missing three T20Is as a result of his suspension for ball-tampering. Allen, on the other hand, will return to the squad after proving fitness following his knee injury in the Afghanistan series.

"In the T20s this will be another chance for them to play and development, and again no disrespect to Afghanistan, this should be a stronger T20 country and we will look to see how they perform against India," head coach Phil Simmons said to Cricbuzz .

"The next World Cup is in Australia (2020) and the one after that is here in India (2021) so there is a lot of preparation to be done for first for Australia, so we have given the players here a chance in this series and we know we have players outside who may be coming in later on as well, so it's good to give those here another opportunity,” added the coach.
