IPL 2020 | Mumbai Indians trade out Siddhesh Lad to Kolkata Knight Riders
In the most recent IPL trade off, Mumbai Indians have transferred batsman Siddhesh Lad to Kolkata Knight Riders. Lad was first roped in by the Mumbai Indians ahead of the 2015 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) but has only featured in a game for them once in all four years.
Known as Mumbai’s crisis man in all three formats, Lad has been a splendid run of form in the last couple of years, which resulted in him taking over the role of captaincy of the state team last year. Despite possessing a large arsenal of shots, he has never been a regular for Mumbai, with his only appearance coming in against Kings XI Punjab last year when he replaced an injured Rohit Sharma.
“Mumbai batsman Siddhesh Lad will turn out for Kolkata Knight Riders in the upcoming season of the VIVO IPL following a successful trade by Mumbai Indians,” BCCI secretary Jay Shah announced in a press release.
While his skill set has not been of great use as Mumbai Indians often use their skipper Rohit Sharma in the middle over, they have made the decision to trade him out which seems to have been a good opportunity for the youngster to find regular game-time in this year’s IPL.
“Lad, who was with Mumbai Indians since 2015, played his first IPL game last season when he was included in the playing XI as captain Rohit Sharma was ruled out of the game against Kings XI Punjab owing to an injury. He hit a six off the first ball he faced and scored 15 runs from 13 balls in his debut game,” the release added.
The trading window closes today and it is expected that a lot of trading would happen on the nick of time.
